Training Our Team

Rescue Global conducts ongoing CPD – continuous profession development for our staff, in the full spectrum of disciplines required by a multi national search and rescue organisation.

Training is conducted for each of the Rescue Global Groups, which are:

  • Gold Command - based at the HQ assigned coordination of any mission
  • Silver Command – based close to, yet remote from the disaster area
  • Bronze Command – based at the disaster area
  • Pathfinder Group – the actual team deployed to the disaster area to conduct operations

The training provided to our team members is comprehensive and continuous. The following list is not an exhaustive list of all of the training which Rescue Global conducts, as we train alongside professional and official teams worldwide, and so benefit from their own training cadres as well as our own.

Training modules within the Rescue Global program include, but are not limited to:

General skill sets (all Rescue Global staff without exception):

  • Immediate First Aid
  • Pre hospital trauma care
  • Working at height – Rope rescue
  • Hazardous environment operations
  • Marine, Arctic, Jungle and Desert operations
  • USAR – Urban Search and Rescue operations
  • Breathing Apparatus Search and Rescue operations
  • Working in water – flood and fast water rescue operations
  • Casualty extraction, when trapped by injury, structure or by weather
  • Search, Rescue and Casualty location in any environment, without local support
  • Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Leadership and Incident Command in crisis situations
  • Security, asset and team protection techniques for working in hazardous environments including conflict zones

Specialist training includes:

HQ and Command Support Staff – Gold Command and Silver Command

  • Advanced Communication skills
  • Leadership in extreme situations
  • Planning and command in disaster area operations
  • Briefing and de briefing for small to large groups in hazardous environment
  • Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence, Leadership and Incident Command in crisis situations
  • Incident Command at the HQ level including resource management, health / safety / welfare of deployed personnel
  • Risk Management and coordination of relief efforts in hazardous environments, including Stress Management and Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) specific counseling skills
  • Liaison with local, regional and international organizations such as the United Nations, Heads of State, Emergency Services, NGO’s, Academia and The Media
  • Press Officer training for Silver and Gold Commanders coordinating with the Media

Team Leaders – Bronze Command

  • Advanced Communication skills
  • Leadership in extreme situations
  • Planning and command in disaster area operations
  • Briefing and debriefing for small to large groups in hazardous environment
  • Recognition of warning signs in team members such as physical, emotional, medial and other impact factors

Pathfinder Group

  • Deployment by sea, including light craft and kayak
  • Deployment by air, including helicopter and parachute
  • Deployment by land, including long range walk in
  • Power set up, including the use of generators
  • Emergency camp set up and management
  • Control of UAV for reconnaissance tasks
  • Navigation skills, including use of GPS
  • Water filtration and storeage
  • Satellite communications
  • Survival skills, all regions
  • Helicopter operations
  • Maritime operations
  • Vehicle maintenance
